Insight Imaging & Diagnostics was founded by Dr. Michael Wasserman with the belief that advanced diagnostic imaging should be readily available within the general practice setting. Many chronic, complex, or challenging medical cases benefit from a detailed ultrasound examination performed in the hospital where the patient is already receiving care, allowing the primary veterinarian to remain directly involved in diagnosis, treatment planning, and ongoing case management.
Insight Imaging focuses on providing comprehensive mobile abdominal ultrasound and echocardiography to general practice and urgent care hospitals, with an emphasis on internal medicine, chronic disease, and cases where attention to detail is essential. Every examination is performed methodically, allowing time to evaluate subtle abnormalities, correlate imaging findings with the patient's history, laboratory results, and clinical signs, and collaborate with both the attending veterinarian and veterinary imaging specialists to provide meaningful diagnostic information.
Insight's goal is not simply to diagnose disease, but to identify problems as early as possible before they become emergencies. When referral to an emergency or specialty hospital is necessary, Insight strives to provide the attending veterinarian and pet owner with the most complete diagnostic information possible before transfer. A thorough diagnostic workup can help guide treatment decisions, improve communication with referral hospitals, and allow families to make informed decisions based on a clearer understanding of their pet's condition. If referral is elected, the ultrasound study can be submitted for STAT specialist interpretation and the finalized report forwarded directly to the receiving hospital, allowing the referral team to review the findings and begin formulating a diagnostic and treatment plan before or shortly after the patient arrives.
Dr. Wasserman is SDEP® Certified in abdominal ultrasound following focused training, case development, and rigorous image review through SonoPath. He is currently continuing advanced training toward certification in echocardiography and thoracic ultrasound and plans to pursue additional advanced education in advanced echocardiography through SonoPath.
The accompanying clip demonstrates an efficient feline echocardiographic sweep from the 4–5 chamber view into short axis, providing a systematic assessment of cardiac anatomy and function. Although this example illustrates a normal feline heart, the same standardized imaging approach is used during every echocardiographic examination to ensure a thorough, reproducible evaluation while maintaining high image quality.
